The included mounting base adapter is reversible to allow for the various sizes of posts it will fit, here are the Installation Instructions for your review. One side will accommodate an actual 5x5 and 5.25x5.25 post, the reverse side will accommodate an actual 5.5x5x5 post, and the solar post cap light as received is set up for an actual 6x6 post. All of the adapter sizes will be approximately 1/16" larger than your post for it to go over the post.
